First Things first...
Ecology- (n.) The branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings.
Ecology of Costa Rica?
Despite the fact that Costa Rica covers only 0.03% of the surface of the earth, Costa Rica has around almost 6% of the world's bio diversity. As a result, Costa Rica has become a chief destination for ecotourism, loosely defined as "come, look, see, experience, but don't touch", thus leaving this beautiful place intact for other to see next week, next year or next century.
Ecotourism- (n.) tourism directed toward exotic, often threatened, natural environments, especially to support conservation efforts and observe wildlife.
What is Pura Vida? What does it mean?
The phrase "Pura Vida" (pu·ra vi·da) means "Pure Life" in Spanish. The phrase can be used both as a greeting or a farewell, as an answer expressing that things are going well, or as a way of giving thanks. The "Pura Vida lifestyle" is expressed by the enjoyment of a life lived slowly, the celebration of good fortune, and the refusal to take anything for granted. It's about being free and living life to the fullest; it's an attitude.
Endemic Species- (adj.) a species that is native or restricted to a certain country or area.
Endemic Species of Costa Rica?
Costa Rica has a large number of endemic species. Why, you may ask? The land in Costa Rica is very diverse. It's combination of significant elevation changes, variations in climate, and its central location along the land bridge between North and South America provides it with great biological richness and many endemic species.
